Weddings are grounds for celebration, and one of the most joyful moments is when the bridesmaids and close friends gather for the bachelorette party. These gatherings are notorious for their rowdy, rambunctious, and drunken shenanigans, which can spell disaster for someone focused on cutting back on alcohol through mindful drinking.

Never fear; Sunnyside is here. Our coaches have pulled together a list of strategies to help you strike that delicate balance between having a blast and sticking to your moderation goals.

## Set Limits

We preach limits a lot at Sunnyside. That’s because, if you do decide to drink, it’s best to have a specific number of beverages in mind. Pace yourself throughout the evening and try not to have more than one drink an hour.

## Drink Slowly

Guzzling alcoholic beverages (and yes, this includes shots) is never a good idea and can quickly veer you off course of your goals to cut back. Take small slips of your drink and try to separate each sip by a few minutes. And be sure to finish your drink before ordering another.

## Alternate With Non-Alcoholic Drinks

Drinking water in between alcoholic drinks will help you stay hydrated and slow down your alcohol consumption. If water drowns your fun, order a fancy mocktail. These festive beverages look and taste like the real deal but without the alcohol. You’ll be grateful the morning after for the extra hydration.

## Choose Lower Alcohol Content Drinks

Low-alcohol beers, wines, and cocktails are a great way to stay festive while moderating your alcohol intake. You may be surprised how much you like some of the craft NA beers (which contain up to 0.5% alcohol, though you’d have to drink a ton to catch a buzz) or low-alcohol cocktails like wine spritzers.

## Don't Let Others Pressure You

Some people think a party isn't a party unless everyone drinks massive amounts, and they may order rounds for the table and insist you partake. Don't let others pressure you into drinking or consuming more than you want to. Remember that the point of your bachelorette party is to celebrate with your friends and have a good time. You don't need to get completely blitzed to do that.

## Have A Plan For Getting Home

When drinking is involved, even in moderation, you should have a plan in mind for how you and the rest of the party will get home. You can't always count on designated drivers to refrain from alcohol during a bachelorette party. So, plan in advance to have the number of a taxi handy or download a rideshare app, like Uber or Lyft.

## Focus On Fun

Remember, the most important thing is to celebrate and create happy memories. And if you have a moment of weakness during the festivities, you can always text your friendly Sunnyside coaches for support.
